Project Description
This three-storey hospital, situated in the heart of Banyuwangi Regency, establishes itself as both a healthcare hub and architectural landmark, seamlessly blending modern functionality with local cultural identity. The "U"-shaped massing ensures a central open space, maximizing natural light and airflow, while the large skylight at the core further enhances the interior brightness and spatial openness. The ground floor accommodates a spacious parking area, along with public and emergency healthcare services, ensuring efficient access for both patients and staff. Above, the upper floors house specialized medical units and communal spaces, fostering a sense of care and connectivity, while the topmost level is dedicated to VIP suites, offering enhanced comfort and exclusivity. Inspired by Banyuwangi’s traditional "udeng" headpiece, the facade and building envelope adopt a geometric repetition of its form, translating local wisdom into a contemporary architectural expression. This rhythmic articulation reflects heritage while embracing modernity, reinforcing the hospital’s role as a cultural landmark. At the front, a grand gate system with a drop-off area ensures a seamless arrival experience. A striking mercusuar (clock tower) stands tall, incorporating the “Gajah Oling” pattern, an iconic motif of Banyuwangi’s local heritage, serving both as a functional timekeeper and a symbolic representation of tradition. This holistic approach transforms the hospital into an architectural narrative of healthcare, accessibility, and cultural continuity, ensuring both functional excellence and emotional resonance within the community.
